The Road Less Traveled is primarily a typographic exploration where different cities and phrases each take on a custom type treatment. I had my friend Fletcher Johnson write a song about traveling and getting out of a small town which served as the narrative thread. At the time, I was pushing my ability to create custom type in Illustrator and really wanted a high level of finish to each piece type. I also made a postcard set featuring 9 of the best phrases. I'm still proud of a few of the treatments. I had the Asheville piece printed large and it was featured in a show at Ball State in Indiana in 2009. A fitting location for an homage to small town America.
