This first season of Volumeone pays homeage to the Spring of 1997 when it was first published. Each of the four small icons linked out to a Javascript pop up window with a small mini-project in each. All of the imagery was from found books and ephemera that was scanned in. There were very few search engines on the web at the time and very few online images to grab. You can see the resolution of the images is quote low because when this season was created monitors were still very large with much lower resolutions compared to more recent retina displays. Around the time this project was published online, the web went from about 260,000 websites in total existence in 1996 to about 1.1million in 1997. This was one of those first million or so sites in the world.
